The following dates have been chosen for Billings area Altitude Limited Electric Soaring (ALES) contests for 2022. All events are flown at Scott Edwards private field, located at 704 HWY 10, Columbus, MT 59019, just a couple miles west of Columbus on the Yellowstone River. The dates are:
April 9 May 14 June 11 July 9
Soaring NATS – July 20 – 30 August 13
Soar Utah – September 2 – 5 September 10 October 8
Contests normally begin with a pilot’s meeting at 9:30 and are complete by 2:00. All contests are open for spectators or contestants. Anyone wishing to come watch or compete should contact Carl Thuesen (cthuesen@icloud.com) in advance for details, as the beginning time can fluctuate based on anticipated weather on contest day. Contests are conducted per current AMA rules for ALES.
